Horizontal Transparency

Arborea is a small Sardinian town shadowed by La Bonifica, a fascist history of land-reclamation through drying up the town’s marshland with goals of eradicating malaria and gaining political control. This project is situated on an abandoned center of La Bonifica, thus proposing a reclamation of this history. The architecture forms around the existing, creating soft vertical and horizontal circulation using land retention design. This project creates public and artistry spaces as well as water collection and processing as a means to reflect and build upon its past.
